CSA-Bacolod’s Dr. Lanie Campillanos, Mr. Rocky Nicor, and Jalene Dumancas Shine at Dayaw 2024: Philippine Indigenous Festival

Dr. Lanie Campillanos, the Program Head of the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED), Mr. Rocky Nicor, an Art Appreciation Professor and a member of the subcommission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts, and Ms. Jalene Isabel Dumancas, a BCAED student, represented Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod at the recently concluded “Dayaw 2024: Philippine Indigenous Festival,” held from October 3-5, 2024 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. The festival, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) with the theme “Katutubong Filipino: Pagtibayin ang Tagumpay 2030,” brought together indigenous groups from across the country in a celebration of cultural diversity and heritage.

Their participation is significant for both Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and the IP community. It highlights the school’s commitment to preserving and promoting the richness of Filipino indigenous culture, which is essential in fostering cultural understanding and pride, particularly as the nation celebrates October as Buwan ng Katutubong Filipino. For the academic community of Augustinians, the presence of Dr. Campillanos, Mr. Nicor and Ms. Dumancas at this prestigious gathering affirms their role in advocating for cultural education, integrating indigenous traditions into modern learning, and supporting the cultural sustainability goals outlined in “Tagumpay 2030.” This engagement strengthens cultural ties and brings valuable insights into the academic and professional work in the fields of arts and education.
