Taking a step towards staying at the forefront of AI advancements, faculty members of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod recently participated in an enlightening seminar focused on ChatGPT. Composed of seasoned and emerging classroom facilitators, the faculty learned about the model’s capabilities, potential applications, and evolving landscape and how they impact teaching and classroom instruction.
Led and facilitated by the resource speaker, Mr. Kurt M. Guirnela, MSCS, a seasoned IT faculty of the College of Accountancy, Business Education, and Computer Studies, the attendees further gained valuable perspectives on the latest developments in AI technologies and explored potential avenues for integrating ChatGPT into their teaching methodologies.
The said professional learning session marks CSAB’s first step in developing a comprehensive policy addressing the integration and responsible use of ChatGPT across diverse educational scenarios. Furthermore, it hopes to guide academic personnel in leveraging the model effectively within the classroom while adhering to ethical considerations and the wellbeing of the students.
The seminar not only “inspired us with innovative ways to incorporate AI in our teaching but also made us realize the need for a safe and structured approach to its utilization”, says Dr. Randdie Cuelo, VP for Academic Affairs, who spearheaded the in-service training activity. “The seminar reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of educational technology while staying true to our vision and mission as an Augustinian educative community,” added Dr. Cuelo.
