The holiday season, a time of joy and celebration, holds a special place in the hearts of many, particularly for children. It is a period when families come together to share in the warmth of love and the spirit of giving. However, amidst the festive cheer, it is crucial to acknowledge that not every child has the opportunity to experience the joys of Christmas. Recognizing this disparity, a heartfelt initiative was undertaken by the Non-Teaching Personnel of Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod (CSA-B), accompanied by Rev. Fr. Bernardo B. Coleco, OSA, to extend the festive cheer to a community often overlooked during this season of giving.
On December 19, 2023, a dedicated group from CSA-B embarked on a meaningful journey to Sitio Marikudo in the Municipality of Isabela, aiming to celebrate Christmas with the Marikudo Ati Tribe, a community with deep-rooted traditions and a rich cultural heritage. This visit was not just a mere act of charity but a profound expression of solidarity and compassion towards a community that has remained on the margins of societal attention.
In preparation for this special occasion, the team meticulously organized personalized gifts for each child in the community, inspired by the innocent and hopeful tradition of “making a wish upon a star.” This thoughtful gesture was designed to not only fulfill the specific desires of the children but also to convey a message of love, care, and recognition from the wider community.
The impact of this initiative was deeply felt by the entire Marikudo Ati Tribe, eliciting a profound sense of gratitude and appreciation. The joy and excitement evident in the eyes of the children as they received their gifts were a testament to the significance of the visit. It underscored the importance of inclusivity and the role each individual can play in making the holiday season brighter for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
