In collaboration with GCC Philippines, CSAB’s Basic Education Department proudly represented the Philippines as the only private school selected to participate in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Workshop on Global Citizenship Education: Whole School Approach, held in Bangkok, Thailand. CSAB’s delegation — composed of Mrs. Donah L. Banaticla (Principal); Ms. Cathy Joy C. Pagunsaran (SHS ABM-HUMSS Strand Coordinator); and Mr. John David C. Other teacher-leaders from Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, as well as South Korea, Bhutan, New Zealand, and China, also contributed to the international gathering. The series of workshops focused on equipping educators with tools to integrate GCED principles into their institutions through School Leadership and Governance, Curriculum and Pedagogy, Student Leadership, Community Engagement, and Professional Development.
The said international workshop featured presentations and action-planning sessions led by esteemed speakers from across the Asia-Pacific region, including Ms. Faryal Khan, Programme Specialist in the Education Section at the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok; Ms. Maha Malik from the Section for Global Citizenship and Peace Education at UNESCO HQ in Paris; Mr. Alejandro Ibanez, Programme Manager for the SEA-PLM Programme at SEAMEO; Ms. Yujin Jo, Programme Specialist at APCEIU in Seoul; Ms. Jenelle Babb, Regional Advisor for Education for Health and Well-being at the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok; Dr. Yu Gao, Director of the Vocational Education and Higher Education Research Institute at Chengdu Academy of Education Sciences; and Ms. Choon Hee Lee, a GCED Consultant and former principal of Seoul Munsung Elementary School.
