Colegio San Agustin- Bacolod (CSA-B) Research and Planning Office (RPO) organized the 60th Founding Anniversary Research Conference last June 26-27, 2023 via Zoom meeting with the theme “Grounded in Values and Excellence, Ascending with Optimism”. The two-day event featured online research talks from international research experts.
Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, O.S.A., school president, gave an inspiring message and a warm welcome to set the tone for the event.
Cognizant of her knowledge and expertise, the first plenary speaker, Fatemeh Asgarinejad, a Ph.D., a student in Machine Learning and Data Science from the University of California San Diego, gave an extensive discussion on the topic entitled “Revolutionizing Research: Applying Machine Learning and Brain-Inspired Hyperdimensional Computing for Innovative Problem-Solving”.
In the afternoon session, the second plenary speaker, Paolo Hilado, an MSC Student in Data Science for Business from the University of Stirling, and with a diploma in Research and Development Management from the University of the Philippines, shared his mastery of the topic entitled “AI Tech Shaping the Landscape of Future Society”.
On the second day, the third plenary speaker, Dean Barron, an instructor from the University of California San Diego Extension, holding a Master of Science in Statistics from California State University, Long Beach, shared a comprehensive discussion on expert witness testimony with the topic “The Role of Data in Expert Testimony: Leveraging Analytical Techniques for Expert Witness Testimony”.
The fourth plenary speaker, Dr. Teng-Hao Chen, an assistant professor at the School of Pharmacy from National Cheng Kung University and with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Houston, shared his expertise and knowledge on the topic entitled “Functional Crystalline Materials for Energy Storage, CO2 Capture and Nanomedicines”.
The overwhelming number of attendees from different institutions in the Philippines deemed the event a success.
This activity marks another significant milestone in commemorating the 60th Founding Anniversary of CSA-B. It serves as a platform for sharing and discussing pertinent and current research topics.
